GROUNDWORK

View of 'Make America Again' and 'Starts & Stops' on the wall: Visitors to the gallery were invited to pull off silkscreened newsprint posters, insert their responses to the textual prompt and pin the results back on the gallery wall. Gradually, the wall collected layers of drawings, one-liners, words and expressions that reflected a variety of opinions on campus as to the current state of the nation’s politics and cultural atmosphere.

Flags, paint
A series of 21 black flags, suspended from the ceiling. One for each day that the exhibition was open, the hardened but seemingly dripping banners hovered between opposing appearances—unable to wave in the wind but looking as if they’d been freshly poured over with paint.
